You don't have to quit your job to become wealthy

"I have no experience running a business, but I want to be wealthy. Where do I start?"

This was one of my favourite questions from a panel I spoke on this weekend.

“It looks like a 9-to-5 isn’t really the goal if you want to be wealthy. I have no experience running a business. Where do I start?”

I’d actually challenge the premise.

A 9-to-5 isn’t the problem.

In fact, it’s a great place to start.

It gives you stability, pays the bills, and teaches you valuable skills.

The problem is relying on one source of income.

Layoffs happen.

Industries change.

AI is changing the workforce.

You can’t control those things.

But you can control whether you’ve built another way to create income.

Most people think they need a business idea.

I think they need to look at the skills they already have.

Take a project manager.

Those same skills could become consulting, corporate training, a niche agency, or fractional project management.

Same skill.

Different vehicle.

That’s why I don’t recommend chasing multiple income streams when you’re starting.

I recommend building one high-ticket service.

Why?

Because it forces you to solve a real problem for a real person.

You spend time with clients.

You learn what they actually want.

You get results.

Those results become testimonials.

Those testimonials make selling easier.

Everything compounds from there.
